Questions and Answers
Q. When are these trips scheduled?
A. They're not. I work with you to determine a time and season that works for your small group.
Q. Can I join a group?
A. No. I work with self-organized small groups - family members, friends and friends of friends - who already enjoy each other's company and would enjoy traveling together.
Q. How long do the trips last?
A. That depends on where you want to go and how long you want to stay. Typically, they last 1-2 weeks. Our favorite Tuscan villas rent out for a week at a time.
Q. How much do the trips cost?
A. All my trips have been in the range of 300-350 euros per person per day. Your costs go up if you choose to spend time in more expensive cities (like Rome or Venice) or simply choose premium accommodations. I am not a company or a business trying to make a profit - instead, I act as your knowledgeable and experienced traveling companion. Your fees are simply based on our combined estimated expenses. A quick internet search will reveal all sorts of commercial tour companies that charge two or even three times as much for the same itineraries and amenities.
Q. What's included?
A. Almost everything except round-trip transportation to our beginning and ending cities in Italy, train fare between major cities on an extended tour, a few lunches, personal purchases, premium wines and trip insurance. This includes all ground transportation, guided tours, museum fees, winery tours/tastings, meals, cooking classes, and so forth.
Q. Will you help me with my flight reservations and getting around Italy before or after our tour?
A. Certainly. I'll be happy to make recommendations and provide any assistance I can. I am not a travel agent, however, so making your flight arrangements will be your own responsibility.
Q. Can I visit ten cities in ten days?
A. Not with me. That's a recipe for stress, fatigue and bad memories (or no memories whatsoever).
Q. I'm pretty familiar with Tuscany; can you help us visit other parts of Italy?
A. Absolutely. I've traveled in Italy from Piedmont to Puglia and from Portofino to Positano. Feel free to contact me and let me know what you might be interested in and I'll let you know how I can help.
Q. What kind of fun recreational activities are possible?
A. For starters, we will be walking several hours every day, just to get around the towns that we visit - and count on half of that being uphill. In addition to that, I work with providers who can lead hiking, cycling,...even golf outings, if you wish. Those sorts of things will have to be added to the usual fee, but are well worth it if you enjoy them.
